Our pets are family too

The previous posts have been about the loss of a loved one, whether father, mother, son, daughter or grandparent. But there is another member of the family that some will also grieve for and that is our four-legged friends.

So on this #nationalpetday I wanted to let my followers know that as an Independent Funeral Celebrant I am at hand to help you through the loss of our furry ones and if you would like a small service then please do get in touch.

I lost my guardian angel 3 years ago now and I still feel his loss, despite still having furry ones they will never replace KB, he was my rock and supported me through some hard times (loss of father and marriage). So when the weather is better I intend to have a small service for him.

In the meantime, I wanted to share this poem that I found about the loss of our pets. I hope that you enjoy it and if you have recently lost your pet that it helps you smile a little.

My Forever Pet

There's something missing in my home,
I feel it day and night,
I know it will take time and strength
before things feel quite right.

But just for now, I need to mourn,
My heart... it needs to mend.
Though some may say,
"It's just a pet,"
I know I've lost a friend.

You've brought such laughter to my home,
and richness to my days.
A constant friend through joy or loss
with gentle, loving ways.

Companion, friend, and confidante,
A friend I won't forget.
You'll live forever in my heart,
My sweet, forever pet.

- Susanne Taylor

I do hope this poem by Susanne Taylor has made you smile, even just a little bit on this winter Sunday morning in April.

Thank you for reading, until the next time
